Beneath the Weeping Willow

Technique: This handmade watercolor diorama is made of paperboard, 300 gsm paper, tiny paper fragments, and a tiny glass bead.
It is filled with tears, or drops of rain, one of which bears a special weight: the one the swans hold.

The title echoes an old song, O Willow Waly, a quiet lament sung beneath a willow tree. In this piece, however, the song has not yet reached its ending — no one has left, and the story is still suspended in time.
