The Seer Swan

Measures 19 cm x 13 cm (or 22 cm with open wings).

“This creature is inspired by ‘Rivers’, a documentary from the series Landscape and Memory by Simon Schama. He reflects about some of the mythological and literary associations of swans, especially their ties to transformation and liminality. Schama suggests that swans embody a kind of temporal duality: creatures that seem to exist both outside and within the concept of time and memory, which is personified by the river.

The graceful movement of the swan’s neck, which allows it to turn its head in sweeping arcs, has been symbolically associated with the ability to look both “to the past and to the future” while gliding on the waters.”

Handcrafted with 300 gsm watercolor paper and tacks, this creature allows gentle movement and repositioning. While She’s designed to be flexible, I recommend keeping her framed most of the time to preserve her delicate nature.
